Emsella® for Urinary Incontinence
What Emsella treats at a glance:
Stress Urinary Incontinence
If you suffer from frequent trips to the bathroom or, even worse, those embarrassing leaks that sneak up on you out of nowhere, Dermatologist Jill Fichtel, M.D., at Transformative Dermatology can help. The Emsella device stimulates and strengthens pelvic floor muscles in both men and women to improve stress urinary incontinence and urgency. Whether you have issues due to your age, childbirth, menopause, or other reasons, Emsella can provide the relief you’ve been waiting for…and all you have to do is sit down!
Here’s how Emsella works.
When a patient sits on the Emsella device, it delivers high intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) waves to stimulate muscle contractions in your pelvic floor. These contractions build and strengthen the muscles and restore neuromuscular control, giving you peace of mind over your hyper-active bladder.
Who is a likely candidate for Emsella?
Emsella is a great option for men or women of any age who want to alleviate issues with urinary incontinence and improve their quality of life.
What can I expect before, during, and after treatment?
You simply sit on a special chair while thousands of HIFEM waves are transmitted to stimulate and strengthen the pelvic floor muscles. The procedure is completely painless, but you will feel some mild tingling as the muscles contract during your treatment session. Emsella is completely noninvasive and absolutely no downtime is needed. You remain fully clothed during your session and are ready to resume your daily activities as soon as treatment is done.
How long does the treatment take, and how many treatments are recommended for best results?
One treatment session takes about 30 minutes, and six sessions at intervals of twice a week for three weeks are recommended for best results.
Are there any side effects? Does the treatment hurt?
Nope! The treatment is painless and free of any side effects. The only thing you’ll notice is much better control of your bladder.
What kind of results can I expect?
You may experience improvement in as little as one session, including decreased urinary leakage along with less urgency to go. These results typically continue to improve over the next few weeks following your treatment.
How much does an Emsella treatment cost?
Every patient is different. During your appointment, Dr. Jill will discuss with you your desired results and map out a treatment path and cost best suited for your individual needs.
