Botox®
What is Botox®?
Botox® is a cosmetic injectable that helps correct the skin’s age-induced loss of elasticity. The injectable neurotoxin is FDA-approved and clinically proven to reduce moderate to severe forehead lines, crow’s feet around the eyes, and frown lines between the eyebrows. The Transformative Dermatology cosmetic injectables team (based in Franklin, TN, just outside of Nashville) understands the importance of maintaining a youthful appearance that is both natural-looking and aesthetically pleasing.
Botox® targets the facial muscles that cause “dynamic wrinkles” that emerge through repeated use of the same facial expressions over the years. As you age, wrinkles become more prominent (especially on the face) as skin elasticity dwindles. Botox® targets specific facial muscles to block the affected nerve from contracting, so no wrinkle forms with the treated area.
Ultimately, the main goal of Botox® is to smooth out any wrinkles on and around the face to create a natural-looking, more youthful appearance.
How long does the treatment take and how long will it last?
During your initial Botox® consultation at our Franklin, TN based medical office (serving the greater Nashville area) the doctor will evaluate your full medical history and discuss your post-treatment goals. Your initial consultation may last anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half, though the actual Botox® treatment typically takes about 30-45 minutes.
During your Botox® injection, the targeted area is first treated with a numbing solution, and the Botox® solution is painlessly injected into the desired area. In addition, if a patient is concerned about discomfort, the board certified dermatologist may administer Pro-Nox™ (laughing gas), vibration technology, or the Alpha-Stim® device to eliminate any discomfort / pain.
Botox® results usually last up to four months after treatment. The Nashville based board certified dermatologist may recommend subsequent treatments in order to maintain desired results.
