Chemical Peels
Chemical peels have become increasingly popular over the years, which is why our non-invasive cosmetic dermatology team at Transformative Dermatology is proud to offer a variety of medical-grade chemical peels. Chemical peels are known to be highly effective and can suit various skin types / sensitivities / conditions with customized chemical peel formulas to suit each patient’s needs. Our board certified dermatologists at Transformative Dermatology are passionate about researching the latest technology in medical-grade dermatological care, which is why we only offer FDA-approved, top tier products / and services.
During a medical-grade chemical peel, your best in class cosmetic dermatologist carefully applies a chemical solution to the face. The solution helps peel off layers of skin (depending upon the depth) to make way for fresh, smooth, healthy skin growing underneath the “old” skin. Chemical peels are a great treatment for men and women looking to rejuvenate their skin.
Some of the most common skin conditions treated by chemical peels include:
- Wrinkle reduction
- Blemish removal
- Skin texture improvement
- Uneven pigmentation correction
- Scar softening
Chemical peels aim to speed up the process of surfacing healthier, younger skin through the safe and painless “peel” of tired, wrinkled skin. Chemical peel treatments provide patients with gentle alternatives for skin rejuvenation, as opposed to more invasive laser skin resurfacing methods. In addition, chemical peel treatments may be performed in conjunction with other forms of skin resurfacing, such as lasers and other devices.
Chemical peels are highly popular due to their multifaceted uses, including the removal of scaly patches or generally rough skin (called keratosis). More severe keratosis often needs added treatment to ensure total removal.
Best skin types for chemical peels:
- Bald (scalp)
- Sun-damaged
- Scar covered
- Acne-ridden
Chemical peel treatments are most commonly performed around the mouth / eyes, forehead, and hands / chest. There are three different levels of chemical peels which consist of the following:
- Superficial chemical peels target the outer layer of the skin and remove it to bring forth new, rejuvenated skin that leaves you glowing. Superficial chemical peels can improve the appearance of acne scarring / hyperpigmentation and diminish fine lines / inflamed blemishes. We use a variety of superficial chemical peeling agents such as glycolic acid (Alpha Hydroxy Acid).
- Medium depth chemical peels yield results such as improvement in appearance of hyperpigmentation / acne scarring. Because this peel treatment is stronger than that of a superficial peel, the treatment area will become inflamed and scabbed for about 7-10 days. Medium depth peels are considered Trichloracetic acid peels, or TCA peels. At, Transformative Dermatology we offer a range of chemical peeling agents and encourage you to inquire via phone to learn more about our medical chemical peels at all depths.
- Deep chemical peels are offered as a non-invasive in-office treatment performed by our cosmetic dermatologists at the top rated Transformative Dermatology (serving the greater Nashville area). Deep chemical peels are recommended for patients suffering from deep wrinkles.
VI Peel
One of our most popular chemical peels is the VI Peel, which is offered as an in-office treatment at the top rated Transformative Dermatology. The VI Peel is a non-invasive chemical peel of medium depth that promotes skin rejuvenation through the use of the latest in skin resurfacing technology. This treatment is performed in-office at our state-of-the-art medical facility. The VI Peel sets itself apart from other non-invasive skin resurfacing treatments because this treatment comes in five different varieties, each caters to a specific skin condition the patient may be experiencing such as wrinkles, acne, keratosis pilaris, sun spots / discoloration, hyperpigmentation, or fine lines. Though there are varying versions of the VI Peel, all varieties promote skin rejuvenation and skin tone evening. In addition, all varieties of the VI Peel actively prevent acne / eradicate acne scars and heal sun-damaged skin.
Why should you get a chemical peel?
Chemical peels can rejuvenate the skin through non-invasive, medical-grade treatment that fights signs of sun exposure (premature aging, brown spots, dull complexion), hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, and other skin conditions. Chemical peel treatments medically speed up the process of replacing dying, weathered skin with revitalized, fresh, young skin that leaves you looking and feeling like you are glowing.
Our best in class board certified cosmetic dermatologists administer chemical peels to essentially exfoliate the skin at a clinical level in a professional, state-of-the-art environment. Once the treated skin peels off, room is made for new skin growth – diminishing previous signs of wrinkled, rough skin.
